The Eco School Project

Pupils of the school and staff decided that at Albourne we want to:

Promote a school ethos that encourages a healthy lifestyle.

Make environmental issues part of the life of the whole school.

Encourage everyone in the school community to respect and enhance their environment.

The Eco School Project was identified as a suitable programme that includes an environmental management system for schools.

In addition it provides many opportunities for cross- curricular links and provides an award system for the whole school.

Following an introduction to the school community, the project was approved and subsequently launched on the 5th March 2005.

This took place during school assembly, led by the school council and Anna Jones the school liaison officer for Mid Sussex District Council.

An Eco School committee has been formed including pupils, governors, teaching staff and the bursar to prepare an action plan for the school. An Eco Code has been drafted for the notice board.
Year 6 pupils have prepared a PowerPoint presentation describing the process of the project, outlining how each class is contributing and where we are now.
