Evacuees come to Albourne!

23rd November 2018
Last week we went back in time as a group of evacuees arrived at school, sent away from the city to avoid the bombs that fell in the blitz during World War II.  There were sad faces as they left their parents, but they were kept busy singing songs sung in the  war-time air raid shelters, making chocolate spread with carrots,  and cakes using the few rations permitted.  We were pleased to see them greeted by relieved parents at the end of their stay!
